Homeless

Homeless is a short film that explores the societal perceptions of homelessness through the transformative journey of a man who uses his saved-up money to buy a smart blazer. Initially, he is treated with more respect and dignity, highlighting how society often values appearance and outward presentation over personal worth. However, the film takes an emotional turn as the man realises that others are in greater need, and he ultimately gives away the blazer to someone struggling even more than he is.

The film offers a poignant commentary on human connection, empathy, and the often-overlooked struggles of those facing homelessness. It’s a moving story that challenges societal norms and reminds us of the power of kindness and compassion in a world that frequently overlooks the vulnerable.

The inspiration behind Homeless came from a desire to explore the complex relationship between material wealth and societal treatment. I wanted to showcase how superficial judgments can deeply affect the way people are perceived, and how, at the core, we all need each other’s support. The decision to make the film was also a personal reflection on empathy and the importance of helping those in greater need, regardless of one's own situation.

The film’s message revolves around compassion, selflessness, and the importance of recognizing the humanity in everyone, no matter their circumstances. Through this film, I hope to encourage viewers to think more deeply about the way we treat others, especially those less fortunate, and to remind us all that small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.
